Yes, I'm an Elitist

Too much is at stake to be on the fence

Who are undecided voters? How can anyone be undecided about the presidential election at this time?

First, let me admit that I'm an elitist. No, I'm not wealthy by anyone's standards and I didn't attend an Ivy League school. I don't eat arugula. I don't even know what it is. I've never driven a Volvo, hugged a tree, or drank a latte in my life. I've never been windsurfing. I own three guns.

But I'm still an elitist because I think if you're undecided at this point, perhaps you should sit the election out so as to not skew the results.

If you could sit through Enron, 9/11, the politicization of 9/11, the Iraq war, outrageous government spending, Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, Swiftboating, Katrina, Supreme Court appointments, high gas prices, the housing bubble bursting, the Obama-Clinton primary, banking meltdown, and Sarah Palin and be undecided in this election at this late date, there's something wrong with you.

John McCain has been in government for 26 years, been on numerous talking-head shows, ran for president before and has written two memoirs. Barack Obama debated almost two dozen times during the primaries, has written two memoirs and has appeared in dozens of magazines. Both candidates have had national conventions, have run TV, radio and print ads and have debated twice. What more do you need?

Undecided voters remind me of people who go into McDonalds and have to look long and hard at the menu before ordering. It's McDonalds. You know what they sell. They don't even have to have a menu on the wall and people could still order.

It would be one thing if the candidates' views were similar. But all you have to do is think of the issues: taxes, Iraq, diplomacy, deregulation, health care, Supreme Court justices, abortion, energy and you realize that the differences are stark. There has been plenty of time to study the issues and enough analysis, ads and interviews to get a sense of the men themselves.

Looking at the uncommitted voters in the audience at the presidential debate this past Tuesday night, they seemed like pod people from the planet Clueless. With their glassy eyed stare and robotic reading of their scripted questions, it appeared that they didn't know if they were there to watch a presidential debate or go to a pavilion and imbibe Dixie cups of Kool-Aid.

It was maddening watching uncommitted focus groups after Tuesday's debate and hearing several people say that the answers weren't specific enough. What good are detailed plans when whoever wins will have to get said plans through Congress? Besides, much of what both men promise will be DOA in today's economic reality.

Now, if you're thinking of voting for one of the other parties' candidates running for president, by all means, take your time. It's OK to be uncommitted if all you plan on doing is launching a protest vote come Nov. 4th. But for the rest of you, get off the fence. This election is too important. If you're still uncommitted, then perhaps you need to be committed. Peace.

Yeah, I'm an elitist. I think if you're waffling at this late date then obviously you don't know what you believe. These two guys are different. You don't have to go with who I'm going with but make a friggin' decision already.

Now I don't have anything new on the other blogs right now, but I do have a video for you. If you 're not afraid to look at the mentality of some people who support Sarah Palin, check out this video. I'm an elitist because I think the people in this video are morons. It's stupidity in motion. People are free to support McCain-Palin but at least have some thought behind the decision.

Man....I'm left nearly speechless...it must have been a scary experience for the interviewer to ask all those rhodes scholars all those tough questions....maybe if he put on a white hooded sheet they might have been more comfortable
